Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Rytry (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our desktop application and website (collectively, the “Service”).

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Authentication data — When you log in with Google, Discord, or Overwolf, we receive your unique user ID, email address (if provided by the auth provider), and display name from that provider. We do not receive or store your password.
  • Riot account — If you link your Riot account, we store your summoner name (GameName#Tag), region, and PUUID (Riot's internal player identifier). We use this to detect encounters.

Usage Data

  • Rival list — The players you add to your rival list, including their Riot IDs, tags, and personal notes you write.
  • Encounter history — Records of games where you appeared in the same match as a tracked rival (match ID, champions used, outcome, KDA).
  • Notifications — In-app notifications generated by the service (rival in-game alerts, encounter results).
  • App settings — Your notification preferences and app configuration.

Technical Data

  • IP address (for rate limiting, not stored long-term)
  • Application version and platform (for analytics)
  • Error logs (anonymized where possible)

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the core Service: rival tracking, encounter detection, cloud sync
  • To send in-app notifications when rivals are detected in live games
  • To display leaderboards and community features
  • To manage your premium subscription through Tebex
  • To prevent abuse and enforce rate limits
  • To improve the Service based on aggregated usage patterns

3. Third-Party Services

  • Riot Games API — We query Riot's API to resolve summoner names to PUUIDs and to detect live games and match history. Data is subject to Riot's Privacy Notice.
  • Google / Discord / Overwolf — Authentication providers. We receive limited profile data (user ID, email, display name) per OAuth scopes.
  • Tebex — Payment processing for premium subscriptions. We share your email with Tebex to associate payments with your account. Tebex is the data processor for payment information.
  • MongoDB Atlas — Cloud database hosting for your data.
  • Railway — Cloud platform that hosts the API and website servers.
  • Cloudflare — CDN and file storage for app downloads.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with third parties except:

  • As described in Section 3 (service providers necessary to operate the Service)
  • If required by law, court order, or government request
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of Rytry, its users, or the public
  • Community lists you create and set as public — other users can see the list name, description, and player names within it

5. Data Retention

  • Account data — Retained until you delete your account
  • Rival list — Retained until you delete your account or remove the rival
  • Encounter history — Free tier: 30 days; Premium: unlimited (until account deletion)
  • Notifications — Auto-deleted after 30 days
  • Logs — Server logs retained for 7 days for debugging

6. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

  • Right to access — Request a copy of all data we hold about you
  • Right to erasure — Delete your account and all associated data from the app Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by emailing us
  • Right to rectification — Update your profile information in the app or account dashboard
  • Right to data portability — Export your rival list as JSON from app Settings → Export Data
  • Right to restrict processing — Contact us to restrict processing of your data
  • Right to object — Contact us to object to specific data processing activities

To exercise your rights, email us at privacy@rytry.gg or use the in-app deletion feature.

7. Cookies & Local Storage

  • Desktop app — Uses localStorage for offline rival data cache and app settings. No tracking cookies.
  • Website — Session cookies for account authentication only. No advertising or analytics cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS/TLS for all data in transit, JWT verification for API access, rate limiting to prevent abuse, and MongoDB access controls. No system is 100% secure; use the Service at your own risk.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top. For significant changes, we'll notify users via an in-app notification.

11. Riot Games Compliance

Rytry is not endorsed by Riot Games and doesn't reflect the views or opinions of Riot Games or anyone officially involved in producing or managing Riot Games properties. We comply with the Riot Games API policies and only store data necessary to provide the Service.
